Our Program

Program Overview

Kids and teens learn to sail at MYC this summer!  If you have always wanted to learn to sail, this is your chance. MYC offers a great sailing program, and you don't have to be a club member to participate.  That means your friends can learn to sail with you. Think how much fun you can have sailing and swimming at the club this summer. Sailing is a special interest, if not a passion, that lasts a lifetime, and there is no better way to start than with the MYC Junior Sailing Program.  The summer program teaches a lot more than sailing, you will learn responsibility, self-sufficiency, independence, and teamwork.

If you already know how to sail, increase your skills with our afternoon program which allows juniors of various ages to participate with special emphasis on their area of interest.

"Do I need to be a member?"

NO! Our program is open to all! However, there will be an additional charge for a Class "C" seasonal membership of $947.65 per sailor.  This also allows the sailor to use the pool and snack bar and participate in the swim team and other junior programming at MYC.

"I don't have a boat"

The club has a limited number of Optis to rent at $600 a season. Since there are a limited number of Optimists available; chartering is available to 1st and 2nd year students on a first-come, first-serve basis as follows:  “A” members (1st year in program), then “C” members (1st  year in program), then “A” members (2nd  year in program), then “C” members (2nd year in program).

C420's for Rent

We have two C420's available for season rental at $1200, or $600 per sailor, first come first serve. You can reserve a C420 when you or your partner register online.

Other Rental Options

You can also rent boats (Optis, C420s, and Lasers) from The Boat Locker or The Dinghy Locker. In addition, boats are always for sale on the JSA website classifieds section, Facebook Marketplace, or Craigslist. If you take care of your boat, they tend to hold their value well and are easy to resell.

Parent Participation

MYC is a yacht club founded on the spirit of member participation. All members work together to make MYC the unique and outstanding club that it is. In keeping with this tradition, it is expected that the parents of our junior sailors will contribute to the successful running of the Junior Program.

We will be hosting regattas this summer that will require your help. In addition to these regattas, there are plenty of opportunities to help during our regular program.  Even if you’re not a sailor there are plenty of ways to get involved!

Payment

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration.  All other fees will be invoiced and automatically charge on May 1 if not paid before.
